why not us?

Washington Post | Mohamed Sharkawy bears the scars of his devotion to Egypt's democracy movement. He has endured beatings in a Cairo police station, he said, and last year spent more than two weeks in an insect-ridden jail for organizing a protest.
But watching tens of thousands of Iranians take to the streets of Tehran this month, the 27-year-old pro-democracy activist has grown disillusioned. In 10 days, he said, the Iranians have achieved far more than his movement has ever accomplished in Egypt.
"We sacrificed a lot, but we have gotten nowhere," Sharkawy said.
Across the Arab world, Iran's massive opposition protests have triggered a wave of soul-searching and conflicting emotions. Many question why their own reform movements are unable to rally people to rise up against unpopular authoritarian regimes. In Egypt, the cradle of what was once the Arab world's most ambitious push for democracy, Iran's protests have served as a reminder of how much the notion has unraveled under President Hosni Mubarak, who has ruled the country for 30 years.
"I am extremely jealous," said Nayra El Sheikh, 28, a blogger and Sharkawy's wife. "I can't help but think: Why not us? What do they have that we don't have? Do they have more guts?"

Whores Among Us

Clearly, we are being fed some misinformation by the Barrystream Media trying to say that South Carolina WHOREMONGER, Mark Sanford, is a Republican. WE see for a FACT that he is NOT.
What is my problem with the whole scenario? Well, Democrats again are gleeful over a terrible thing. You see, those on the left do not possess the moral faculties to understand what happened. Being an elected official CORRUPTS completely and no one with any moral fiber has the wherewithal to even contemplate running for public office. Only the most morally degenerate even desire to gain political power these days. Corruption is THE DAMN STANDARD. People with integrity are the EXCEPTION TO THE RULE.
Get a grip, Libtards, we have seen the enemy and he is YOU. Your ideology of moral equivalency has made great strides in destroying this country. Only one minor little problem, us normal folks are not falling for your philosophy. Own Sanford, he belongs to your side.
Andy is taking bets on the next governor to fall. Smart money is on Deval Patrick, Barry Obama's gay lover. By the way, if you want inside information on who is going to FAIL, check their religious affiliation, Episcopalians or Presbyterians are always the weakest. Wonder why?
To take a look at exactly what the left promotes on a daily basis with their ideology of passive-mindedness, one only has to look at the militant contingent of the moonbat philosophy. Only a group of people that are so utterly confused about who and what they are would get pissed at one of their own, who used their own terminology, and got BEAT DOWN FOR IT. Seriously, there is simply no explanation for this. Logic does not exist in their world.
When you are a typical moonbat, logic is your Kryptonite. You cannot make the synapses fire to complete even the most basic of equations. You must HATE women, children, the handicapped, and the talented, EQUALLY. Hate is the only true emotion felt by those on the left. That is the reason that for generations, the left attempted to keep BLACK FOLKS IN SLAVERY. Luckily, those of us normal folks had the good sense to elect some REPUBLICANS that forced through civil rights legislation, albeit in a very misguided way. (By the way, Celtic Diva is the OFFICIAL DNC blogger in Alaska. She IS the Democrat party, in other words.)
More Democrat ideology that has arisen, pay kids to not get pregnant. Folks, you just cannot make this ridiculous SHIT up. Only an absolute MORON would offer additional positive reinforcement for a NORMAL behavior like NOT screwing when you are NOT married. In layman's terms, Democrats are idiots.
But, I simply must agree with this reinforcement of behavior. Paying public school teachers to NOT teach. You see, only the dumbest and most worthless people ever go into teaching these days. The teachers unions have gotten to the very same point that the UAW has fallen. The ONLY thing that they are concerned with is reducing the amount of TEACHING success in public schools. Why is it, do you think, that a college education is IMPERATIVE now when a high school diploma would get you the very same VALUE in wages just forty years ago?
Democrats are also decidedly ANTI-SCIENCE by nature. They simply cannot accept anything as fact unless there is a government grant attached to it and they are complicit with the morons in Congress in spending our HARD-EARNED tax money on stuff that is a waste of time. Anthropomorphic Global Warming, which is now called Catastrophic Climate Change, is the new Darwinism and the money pit and poverty inducing ANTI-SCIENCE of the left. Here's some real science concerning the temperature of the Earth.
Do you know what is really weird? NICE weather in Arizona during the month of June.
Make no mistake, following the lunacy of the AGW crowd is neck-breaking. Those that profit from government grants are FORCED to follow the paths that their MASTERS desire. The money that our federal government spends on this hokum is specifically designed to remove your wealth and give it to their cronies. That is what government work does, PAYS FOR CORRUPTION. E-mail PROOF.
The next target is publicly financed "healthcare." Can someone please tell me what that word even MEANS? No, you can't, because it is not in any dictionary that makes sense. Here is the one from an online MEDICAL DICTIONARY: The prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well-being through the services offered by the medical and allied health professions.
Do you think that includes yoga instructors or aroma therapy folks? Of course it DOES. And at some point in the near future with the crumbling morality of those in charge, CHILD PROSTITUTION will be considered "healthcare" because those pedophiles are "ILL." It is the exact same premise. But, you know what the left thinks of medical services? They are exactly like SLAVERY.
I simply cannot resolve the leftist ideology in my brain. I am NOT crazy.
Please take the time to comment.

The First Frump Michelle Hussein Obama promotes anti-American AmeriCorps in San Francisco

Butt ugly big ass under bight from hell First Frump and some poor innocent dog

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — First lady Michelle Obama plans to kick off a summer of community service Monday by helping refurbish a school playground, while a number of cabinet officials fan across the country donating time to promote the campaign.

The initiative, known as United We Serve, was announced by President Barack Obama in a video message last week.

The president is urging people to help in the nation’s economic recovery by volunteering at schools and hospitals and pitching in on community needs ranging from tutoring to trash pickup.

Michelle Obama is putting the idea into action by joining California first lady Maria Shriver and local volunteers at Bret Harte Elementary School in San Francisco, where the playground is being refurbished to include an edible garden with a farmers market stand where kids and seniors can sell vegetables to raise money for the school.

Later, the first lady is scheduled to speak at the 2009 National Conference on Volunteering and Service.

A number of other people are also set to speak, including Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Earlier, a volunteer driver from the nonprofit Disabled American Veterans participated in the United We Serve program by transporting Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki and two Vietnam-era veterans through commuter traffic to a VA hospital in Washington.

Shinseki said he was amused by the advice the veterans gave the driver to quickly get to their appointments.

"Except for them, we’d still be in traffic," Shinseki told staff members at the hospital after the ride.

More than 80,000 people donated time last year helping with VA-related programs, but Shinseki said there’s concern that there’s been a decline in the number of volunteers.

Other senior VA officials volunteered at homeless shelters and in other ways.

Tammy Duckworth, a VA assistant secretary who lost both her legs and partial use of one arm in an attack in Iraq in 2004, recalled a fellow veteran offering to wash her hair when she was injured and another volunteer pulling up a blanket for her when she was on a gurney in a hospital hall and unable to move her arms.

"Sometimes, it’s the smallest gesture that makes the difference to these vets," Duckworth said.

Other officials promoting the event included Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., who was to play basketball and talk with young people at the Police Athletic League in Philadelphia.

Commerce Secretary Gary Locke was visiting La Mesita Homeless Shelter for Families in Mesa, Ariz. to read to children and serve lunch at the child care center.

Housing Secretary Shaun Donovan was set to help rebuild a home in New Orleans.

United We Serve is led by the government-run Corporation for National and Community Service.

Shame on some veterans for allowing Obama to use them to further their anti-American/military cause.

Consent of the Governed

Iranian state-run media is trying to suggest that Mir Hossein Mousavi and his followers are criminals and terrorists. Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani's daughter and four other relatives have been arrested. Media, like the BBC's main correspondent, have been expelled. The crackdown has escalated, and yet the protests continue. And the arrest of the relatives of Rafsanjani shows the split among the clerisy. Even Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has asserted that a majority of the public questions the election results. And you're hearing open talk about an alternative leadership structure.
Fareed Zakaria makes an important point:
Fareed Zakaria: One of the first things that strikes me is we are watching the fall of Islamic theocracy.
CNN: Do you mean you think the regime will fall?
Zakaria: No, I don't mean the Iranian regime will fall soon. It may -- I certainly hope it will -- but repressive regimes can stick around for a long time. I mean that this is the end of the ideology that lay at the basis of the Iranian regime.
The regime's founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, laid out his special interpretation of political Islam in a series of lectures in 1970. In this interpretation of Shia Islam, Islamic jurists had divinely ordained powers to rule as guardians of the society, supreme arbiters not only on matters of morality but politics as well. When Khomeini established the Islamic Republic of Iran, this idea was at its heart. Last week, that ideology suffered a fatal wound.
CNN: How so?
Zakaria: When the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declared the election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a "divine assessment," he was indicating it was divinely sanctioned. But no one bought it. He was forced to accept the need for an inquiry into the election. The Guardian Council, Iran's supreme constitutional body, met with the candidates and promised to investigate and perhaps recount some votes. Khamenei has subsequently hardened his position but that is now irrelevant. Something very important has been laid bare in Iran today --- legitimacy does not flow from divine authority but from popular support.
We weren't sure that the "consent of the governed" meant anything in an Islamic theocracy, but what we're seeing in the streets show that it in fact does.

Former O'Sullivan official has change of mind; Blankenship lawyer files motion to dismiss

With just one week to go before a hearing, the lawyer for former O'Sullivan Industries official Gary Reed Blankenship has filed a motion to dismiss his attempt to have his sentence tossed.
The motion was filed Tuesday in McDonald County Circuit Court by Blankenship's attorney, Jack Brill.
Blankenship, currently a resident of the state prison at Cameron, and formerly a Neosho resident, pleaded guilty to amended charges of possession of child pornography and promoting obscenity Oct. 19, 2006. He had initially been charged with eight counts of possession of child pornography, one count of enticing a child, and one count of promoting obscene material to a minor.
Five months after the guilty plea, Blankenship filed a motion of have the sentence vacated, and a motion to proceed as a pauper, which was granted by Selby, meaning the taxpayers are footing the bill for Blankenship.
Blankenship was arrested Jan. 27, 2005, following one of former Diamond Police Department officer Jim Murray's internet sex stings.
Blankenship was sentenced to four years in prison, and has been incarcerated since Oct. 19, 2006.

How's This For Change? "US DEBT IS AT $1M PER FAMILY "

Feel better now? I knew you would. This Hope and Change sh*7 is really working out well, isn't it? The national debt GDP ratiohas grown more under Obama and this entirely democratic 111th congress 50% more in 6 months that the 50 previous years put together.
It went from 146,000 per family of four in the weeks before Obama took office to over $1 million per the same family as we sit today.
Hope and Change is all we got left now, thanks to these tax and treasury raping Liberals.
Although Bush didn't exactly trim the fat himself, he did encounter September 11 which put an entirely new security dynamic on the nation never seen in the homeland, and Obama, instead of curtailing spending as he promised, has used the economic downturn to rape and pillage the financial future of your children, all to pay off liberal special interests and Auto Unions.
Remember these words proudly said and echoed proudly by Obama and his MS Ministry of Propaganda when you and your family can't afford to cover the week's groceries and other essential obligations:
"Don't Let a Good Crisis go to Waste"
New York Post: "A former official in the George H.W. Bush White House estimates that the bloated public and private debt in the US works out to $250,000 for every man, woman and child in the country.
David Walker, the former US Comptroller General, says that the federal debt level is approaching $55 trillion and if you add in the what is owed on the state and local levels -- plus personal household debt -- it adds up to $75 trillion in obligations.
Walker, who now heads the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, named for the co-founder of the Blackstone Group, warned that without fiscal restraint, Uncle Sam may be guaranteeing that our future is not as prosperous as our past.
At the $75 trillion deficit level a family of four owes $1 million, he said.
Earlier this year Walker wrote on Politico.com: 'Social Security and Medicare alone are already underfunded by about $44 trillion, or $146,000 per American, in today's dollars, and this number is growing on auto pilot every year by about $2 trillion, or $6,600 per American.'"

Glenn Beck: Who, me? Root for states to secede?

You can view this video right here by getting the latest version of Flash Player! DOWNLOADS: (313)
PLAYS: (918)

Glenn Beck wants everyone to rest assured he's not a complete nutcase. He's not a fan of state secession, after all!

Beck: Did you catch the New York Times this weekend? [Giggles weirdly.] They published the third -- count it, three -- the third op-ed in the New York Times blaming Bill O'Reilly and me, or Fox News in general, of spreading hate and inspiring people like the killer of Dr. Killer, uh, Tiller, in Kansas. Also, we were the inspiration apparently for the guy at the Holocaust Museum last week.

You know, there are groups out there that preach hate and violence and racial violence. There are groups out there so fed up they want to secede from the union. But we ain't one of them!

Hmmmm. An interesting denial. There's only one problem with it: Beck was downright enthusiastic about Texas secession two months ago when he interviewed Chuck Norris:

GLENN: Chuck, you live in Texas.

NORRIS: Yes, I do.

GLENN: Somebody asked me this morning, they said, you really believe that there's going to be trouble in the future. And I said, if this country starts to spiral out of control and, you know, and Mexico melts down or whatever, if it really starts to spiral out of control, before America allows a country to become a totalitarian country, which it would have under I think the Republicans as well in this situation; they were taking us to the same place, just slower.

NORRIS: It was slower, yeah.

GLENN: Americans will, they just, they won't stand for it. There will be parts of the country that will rise up. And they said, where's that going to come from? And I said Texas, it's going to come from Texas. Do you agree with that, Chuck, or not?

NORRIS: Oh, yeah. You know, Texas is a republic, you know. We could actually --

GLENN: It was a country before it was a state.

NORRIS: Yeah, we could break off from the union if we wanted to.

GLENN: You do, you call me.

NORRIS: Oh, yeah.

If the people who call for state secession are complete nutbags, then why does Beck keep featuring on his show his good buddy Chuck Norris? The guy who wrote this:

On Glenn Beck's radio show last week, I quipped in response to our wayward federal government, "I may run for president of Texas."

That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.

From the East Coast to the "Left Coast," America seems to be moving further and further from its founders' vision and government. ...

... I'm not saying that other states won't muster the gumption to stand and secede, but Texas has the history to prove it.

Of course, Beck is busy making this claim and running far far away from the right-wing nutcases whose theories he spent much of his first couple of months at Fox promoting.

Because heaven forfend that anyone should look at Beck's proclamation after the Holocaust Museum shooting that "the pot in America is boiling" and start figuring out who turned up the temperature.

Dr. Slammy at Scholars and Rogues has a great post on the phoninness of the "lone wolf"/"isolated incidents" meme that seems to be all the rage on the right these days.

Tea Party follow-up is a big FAIL

Today, there was a March on Albany, organized by local and state Tea Party types to bring thousands of people from all over New York to the steps of the Capitol.

Back on April 15, there were dozens of Tea Parties across the state, and the Albany event was quite successful, attracting a crowd of a couple three thousand.

Today, not so much, more like a couple three hundred.

Details and more photos, below.
The weather was perfect, and there are plenty of state-level grievances that Tea Party types have, particularly New York's high level of state and local taxes.

And their essential message for this event -- We're Voting the Ins Out -- has plenty of resonance, and not just on the far-right.

And, while the April 15 event was largely promoted by one talk show host on one station, this time all three Albany talk stations got into the act, and one broadcast from the scene throughout the three-hour event.

So, the organizers expected another crowd of thousands of Capital District residents, plus thousands more from downstate and Central and Western New York.

Did. Not. Happen.

One of the organizers, Wade Abbott, told talk show host Paul Vandenburgh he was pleased with the turnout, because today was a workday for most.

Vandenburgh noted that April 15 was a workday, too.

There were plenty of signs, of course, and most of them dealt with the same anti-Obama themes that dominated the April 15 events.

Like this "Obama is a commie" one, which is available from the impeachobamastore website, and another homemade one that had Obama's face Photoshopped in a lion's body, with the text:

The Lyin' King
One
Big
Ass
Mistake
America

Another homemade one was more current, anyway:

Pres. Obama
What do I need to do to be sent to Bermuda??

Most of the speeches I heard were standard anti-government stuff. One former Republican Congressional candidate, now the NYS coordinator of the Campaign for Liberty, swore in the entire crowd as "Constitutional Police Officers," though his explanation of what that meant was quite muddled.

A tricorn-hatted speaker from Long Island called for the real of the 17th Amendment, arguing incoherently that the direct election of U.S. Senators was a bad thing.

The Campaign for Liberty and other wingnut groups had tables selling or giving away their stuff. On offer were free Ron Paul bumper stickers, a Glenn Beck-endorsed book about how the USA is a Christian nation, an exhortation to participate in "Continental Congress 2009" to do away with the income tax, and whatever the John Birch Society is pushing these days.

Maybe the Tea Party movement is still teh awesome in other parts of the country where Ron Paul is somewhat more popular.

But here in New York, it's clearly lost whatever momentum it thought it had on April 16, and shrunk back mostly to the far-right fringe whence it came.
